The most popular Italian bubbles! Straw yellow colour, fruity scents. Prosecco is white sparkling wine from a grape called Glera, being cultivated in two Italian regions – Veneto and Friuli Venezia-Giulia. It is very fresh and delicate sparkling wine, which is characteristic for its apple – pear notes, as well as more exotic pineapple and peach tones. The bubbles itself come from – secondary fermentation – Charmat method. There are different kinds of Prosecco according to several differentiating points.

The bubbles itself come from – secondary fermentation – Charmat method. There are different kinds of Prosecco according to several differentiating points.

TYPES OF PROSECCO

According to the residual sugar present in the bottle:
Extra Brut – 0 g/ l residual sugar
Brut – 0-12 g/l residual sugar
Extra dry – 12-17 g/l residual sugar
Dry – 17-32 g/l residual sugar
According to the presence of C02:
Tranquillo – no bubbles at all
Frizzante – delicate perlage (1,5 – 2,5 bars)
Spumante – intensive and long-lasting perlage (3,5 – 5 bars)

These wines needs to fulflil certain area of production, period of maturation etc.) DOCG (Denominazione di Origina Controllata e Garantita) is the highest one – on top of the DOC requirements the wines need to fulfil – exact grape composition, longer maturation etc.) Prosecco is then classified according to the region of its origin – the most famous one is called Conegliano Valdobbiadene.
